Im pretty sure it dosn't say "not hirable" there has to be something on your record that is a concern for the company you are trying to work for. Say if you have gone to court for something as small as a bounced check - It shows that you don't have integrity (you knew about the bounced check and didn't try to be honest and clear it up before it got to the point of courts) If your position consists of accounting or dealing alot with money and they run a credit report and your not up to par on that either they could consider you a theft risk - people with bad credit tend to be a little deceptive. I need a more clear explanation of what is on your record to give you a really good answer.

You really didn't give much for details in your question. Employable for what? A Gov't job? McDonalds? School District?There is a big difference. Have YOU done a background check yourself or left that up to the employer? Because you need to do one yourself. There are two kinds of background checks. There is Federal and there is the State you live in. For example: The state of Arizona puts down what your charged with not what your convicted of. Even if it gets thrown out of court. It still goes on record what you were charged with. And stays on your record for 99 years. Federal in Arizona usually goes back for 10 years. So it really depends alot on which background check your talking about and what you were charged with. Were you charged with something or do you have a psychological history where you were committed? They can also deny you employment on that basis, though it is considered discrimination, people still do discriminate. So your question was abit vague. If you put more details then people would be able to answer your question. Oh and there is an appeals process in most states if you don't like the background check you can appeal it. For example: for a fingerprinting card for working in school districts or volunteering in schools or certain organizations, State and Federal. Hope this helps.

Either you've got something on your record that would preclude you from being considered for the job (for example, a felony would preclude you from being a bank teller, as would extremely bad credit), or the information you provided was inaccurate and could not be verified by the person completing the background check.

Ask the company for a copy of the report. You are entitled under the Fair Credit Reporting Act . If they denyed you employment because of your background check you should be able to figure out why once you look at it (ie criminal records, employment discrepency)

With what little information you gave it is very undeterminable. Have you been arrested? Tested positive for HIV or drugs? Owe money on Child Support? There are thousands of reasons why they would determine somone Unhirable.

there might be a couple of reasons, like whether you were convicted of a crime or maybe one of your former employers that you put down as a reference didn't put in a good word for you?
you might want to check into that if you've never committed a crime or if you and your former bosses were on good terms.
