Ah sweet mysteries of life,,,and why didn't you ask this in Home category? smiles.
I suspect the sock industry has missed a great opportunity, that has been a problem since the invention of the clothing washer and dryer. BTW,,,mine always go missing after the wash phase.
I'll offer this publically and perhaps sock manufacturer scouts will pick up on it. MAKE and SELL socks in 3's instead or pairs, eliminating the one odd sock phenomenon.

Ok, no. They're hiding. They stick to things (even when you use fabric softener). I found a sock clinging once to the sheets as I was putting them in the linen closet. Had I not seen it, it would have fallen & been hiding in the closet forever. You always end up finding the socks eventually somewhere (under the bed, in a closet, hiding in the leg of a pair of jeans) but by then you've probably disposed of its partner...
Socks have a pretty sucky life so maybe this is how they amuse themselves to cope! Tee hee

There is a sock fairy who comes by at night and steels a sock and gives them to a tramp. As you know a tramp needs 5 socks to keep worm, 1 for each foot, 1 for each hand and 1 as a willy warmer.

Fate, It wasn't long before I had a shoe box full of no match socks. Would you know anyone who may have purchased a new fridge lately who is willing to give away the box? It gets bad, just toss them and give up or it will make you crazy.

I certainly have a concept approximately it: you spot earlier socks come to us they get married, subsequently they arrive in pairs. like quite a few married couples they get in disagreements and considered one of them storms off in a huff and is in no way considered back. each so often they get decrease back at the same time and make up and that's once you come across that lacking sock the subsequent time you do laundry. All women are behind this mystery. If you recall your mother started with it, if you have a girl she will do it. It is a big conspiracy they have had going on now for ober 100 yrs. Good luck, Keep a stash of unopened packs hidden from her & you will always have socks, watch.
