Patriotism is a good thing when you don't involve politics, religion, and an excuse to start a war.

I am a Patriot, and I love my country,
Because my country is all I know.
And I ain't no communist, and I ain't no capitalist
And I ain't no socialist
and I sure ain't no imperialist
And I ain't no democrat
And I ain't no republican either
And I only know one party
and its name is freedom
I am a patriot
And the river opens for the righteous, someday.
~Little Steven & the Disciples of Soul
And what do you do when the "us" is "being a threat to good people everywhere."? What then? It's hard to face, I'm sure, being patriotic to such a power when you don't even know it.

I love my country, but I also love my world. I think its good to want to support your country, but I don't like to think in terms of us and them. I wouldn't want to get too radical in patriotism. I want to help the whole world with its problems. We are all humans and share alot in common. There are some rabid radical persons, such as terrorists, and I can't agree with them at all. They will use anything to get their hate message out. Since they are so crazy thinking and dangerous, they are "them". I guess I'm patriotic, and care about other people of other countries, as long as they are not being a threat to good people everywhere.

it's a good thing. Unfortunately some people are trying to out-patriotize each other, and that's where it gets creepy.

it's good it's bad it's just a load of crap when it comes to goverment and thier policies cause then they use it for their own means. true patriotism is good when it is from the right place, but like everything out there depends on who is sellin or giving it out for free

I love my country.
I hate that those who have started this stupid war have sent 2700 brave Americans to their deaths based on a faulty premise.
I hate that this President has forced Americans to choose between loyalty to him and loyalty to the Constitution.
I love that we have been through much worse than George W. Bush and we will emerge from his regime stronger than ever!

It's good to love your country, but not to the point where you say you "hate" other countries.
