For some girls (especially their first time) I heard it hurts cause the skin is stretching down their. You might just not be the proper fit for the girl. My mother-in-law (even though I could've lived my whole life not knowing this and still been happy) said that my husband's dad was too big and hurt her (even though she had three kids with him) and that her new baby's daddy is just the right size even though he is smaller.
