1. Numbers which divide a number are called factors. Prime numbers are those numbers which are evenly divisible (leaving no remainder) by themselves and 1.

Prime factorization means to express the number as a series of prime numbers. So prime factors are prime numbers which factor a number. All numbers can ultimately be reduced to prime factors.

225 = 3 x 3 x 5 x 5.

The square root of 225 is 15, and the prime factorization of 15 = 3 x 5.

2. A proper fraction is a fraction in which both the Numerator (top number), and the denominator (bottom number) have no common factors. Proper here means that it cannot be reduced any further. Reducing a fraction means to divide both the Numerator and the Denominator by the same number (the common factor), and still be left with a proper fraction.

For example 4/8 can be reduced by dividing it by 2, leaving 2/4, or it can be divided by the greatest common factor of both 4 and 8, which is 4, leaving 1/2 which cannot be further reduced. 7/12 cannot be further reduced, as there are no common factors for 7 and 12. Etc.

Using the greatest common factor allows the fraction to be reduced as far as possible in one operation, leaving an irreducible proper fraction as the result.

3. A quart is 1/4th of a gallon (Quart comes from the phrase "one Quarter"). 1/100 equals one percent. The gallon here is the 100 percent, and since 1/4th of 100 is 25, then a quart is 25 % of a gallon.

4. 3/10 here needs to be expressed as a decimal. Any expression of 10ths is wrtten as 0.n, where n is the number of tenths you are discussing. Here, 3/10 = 0.3. The answer to your question then can be framed as "one divided by 0.3", written as: 1/0.3 = 3.33 ...

(The ellipses, ... , means the last decimal repeats forever, which is also expressed by writing a short line over the last decimal, but I cannot do that on this machine).

So, there are 3.33... times 3/10 in the number one.

1. 225

15X15
^ ^
3X5 3X5

FINAL ANSWER= 3^2X5^2 (3 TO THE POWER OF 2 TIMES 5 TO THE POWER OF TWO)

2. wHEN THE NUMERATOR AND DENOMORATOR ARE BOTH DIVISIBLE BY THE SAME NUMBER, THAT MEANS YOU CAN SIMPLIFY, OR REDUCE, THE FRACTION BY THE DIVISOR.

EXAMPLE: 12/16...BOTH 12 AND 16 ARE DIVISIBLE BY THE NUMBER 4, SO YOU CAN DIVIDE BOTH NUMBERS BY TWO, AND IT WILL EQUAL THE ORIGINAL FRACTION...

12/16= 3/4

3.THERE ARE FOUR QUARTS IN A GALLON, SO 1 QUART IS 1/4 OR 25% OF A GALLON.

4. 10/10=1
3/10+3/10+3/10=9/10...YOU CAN NOT FIT ANOTHER 3/10 IN WITHOUT GOING OVER 1, SO THERE ARE 3 3/10 IN 1.

SORRY ABOUT THE CAPS LOCK BEING ON, I FORGOT TO TAKE IT OFF UNTIL I DID THE WHOLE FIRST PROBLEM....

if you want to know the prime factorization, you make a factor tree and the prime numbers left over you put in exelleration to the composite numbers of the factor tree. Then multiply them bye two, divide by three, then thats your answer! That simple!
