Is there a way to cover or treat my leather western saddle so that I can ride my horse in rainy/wet weather?

No. You cannot completely rainproof your saddle. Cleaning it well with saddle soap and then applying some mink oil or other protectant designed specifically for leather will help protect it if you get caught in a drizzle, etc. But ultimately it will be detrimental to your saddle to let it get soaked. I train horses for a living and have learned not to ride in the rain in order to protect my investment. Saddles don't come cheap!
One thing you could try is purchasing an inexpensive synthetic saddle that you could use to ride on wet days.

i had never heard of the minks oil trick until now but if that works then go for it. regularly cleaning your saddle with saddle soap will give it some protection as well. i ride in the rain all the time especially when trail riding and that seems to work. you can also buy a large poncho made for riding and it should cover your saddle as well. i personally prefer synthetic saddles to leather ones. wintec is my favorite. the material, Equileather, stands up to everything. I had my English saddle for over 9 years and it still looked brand new. For some reason tthe Wintec saddles do not slip like other synthetics. They stay in place like a real leather saddle. Wintec is also really starting to diversify with their saddle. They used to have only an All purpose English and a dressage saddle and they have added the Western and the Australian to their line as well. I think that they might also have a jumping saddle but I dont know. You may want to consider investing in one of these because they are well worth the price. .

Yes most tack shops or equine sales stores will carry a cover to go over your saddle weather english or western, to ride in the rain or snow. Just ask the clerk where to find them, usally found in the same location of the bare back pads.

If it's leather then it's not like you can spray something on it to make it rainproof. But they do have plastic covers you can buy and they come in English and Western. A cheaper way is to cover your saddle with a garbage bag.

there is truly no reason to pressure about getting a saddle rained on, or rideing your horse in the rain. i have taken my saddle to the carwash more advantageous than once to get the airborne dirt and mud and cow poop off of it. in basic terms positioned it out in the sunlight to dry then oil it truly solid, it's going to be advantageous. so a concepts as a slicker, i do not now each and every man or woman that doesn't personal one. i'm particular the human beings operating the DUDE ranch your going to can help you out. Get em up, flow em out RAWHIDE

there are plastic coverings (almost like a shower cap) for saddles. You can also use a leather protectant/waterproofing spray. visit a leather store or tack/saddle shop and ask them for products they recommend.

yes waterproof it with mink oil. just put a little on the tip of your fingers and rub it into the leather. let the leather dry for a day or two and then it's waterproof. very quick and easy.
