I heard that M&M are launching a 'lighter' scorpio with a smaller engine. Presumably this will be cheaper as well. Do you know when this launch is likely to happen, and at what price?

Bosch’s first customer, Mahindra & Mahindra, will use the bigger CP1H pump for its 2.6 motor in the Scorpio and also for its all-new and high-tech ‘Eagle’ engine, a 2.2-litre, four-valve per head, turbo-diesel that will power future Scorpios, export models and the upcoming Ingenio MPV that M&M recently announced it would launch in 2008.
the main reason for this, as we saw in the Paris Motor Show, the Scorpio has been launched in the Europe, so to meet the European standards the new engine is being developed. So M&M's main area is Europe for sometime & so u cannot expect the new engine for some time in India.

M&M initially planned to launch the Scorpio 2.2 in November 2006. However the schedule has been changed and postponed to March 2007. It will be available by June 2007 in India.
The Diesel version would cost 1.5 lakhs more than the standard version.
