No - a legal secretary is a secretary who happens to work for a lawyer. A paralegal is practically a lawyer, although they earn a quarter of what a lawyer does. Most legal secretaries really are paralegals by just another name. Some little schools have become very well off convincing people you need a Paralegal Degree or Certificate in order to do the job.
In any event - a lawyer is only as good as his/her secretary. We can't live (properly) without them.

Here is an excerpt taken from the 2nd website I attached below:

Typically, legal secretaries are responsible for clerical and administrative tasks. In contrast, a paralegal (while likely assuming some of those secretarial tasks) win also work on substantive legal work. For example, a litigation paralegal might draft pleadings- conduct client interviews; work on investigations; prepare correspondence; review and summarize depositions and interrogatories; conduct limited legal research; and maintain and organize computer files. A real estate paralegal might prepare all closing documents and conduct closings. A probate paralegal might draft probate documents. In short, because of their training and experience, a paralegal is able to assist the attorney in actually performing legal services. Under the supervision of an attorney, paralegals bill their time to the clients on an hourly basis.

Pretty much. There could be a difference but not always. A paralegal requires training and usually an associates degree. I'm sure some lawyers have secretaries that have no legal training, but a paralegal could be considered a legal secretary because they do a lot of clerical tasks as well.

there's a huge distinction. A criminal secretary assists the criminal expert in typing up the records, filling out the kinds, preserving the criminal calendar, submitting and organizing each and every thing, etc. particularly, that's like a number of secretarial activity different than that the terminology is very particular, and likewise preserving prepared as a criminal expert is severe because of the fact in case you omit a submitting time shrink, you lose your case, so which you particularly could be on top of issues. A paralegal handles those factors of the criminal expert's activity that don't require which you be a member of the state Bar to accomplish. they often do various study, drafting of records, intake of clientele, and issues like that. they can't look in courtroom particularly than the criminal expert or sign as a criminal expert, yet they might often do truly some the fewer complicated criminal initiatives. often, a paralegal is paid greater, yet that relies upon on who they're working for.
