I am not a girl, but I may be able to shed a little light on this one. Depending on where you are from, you might use different words to say something in particular. The word Handsome, means good looking. In the American colonial days, or in England present day, a male might say, "I think you are handsome.", to pretty young lady. This might even be picked up from a video game depicting Gothic times. It is not unusual to see it used in a Gothic love novel.
I hope to have been of some assistance me lady!

I'd feel flattered, handsome can be taken in different ways.I've seen clothes that were handsome or a hair do ect. It would depend on the guy telling me that too. Is he cool ,or an ***. keep your head up and be proud of your beauty or handsomeness..

I would feel confused since girls are not usually referred to as "handsome." Why do you ask? That's like a girl walking up to a guy and telling him he's pretty.

Is he American? Sometimes when those who have english as a second language use the wrong word innocently.
On the other hand, if not, then I would feel like I had hard features if I was called handsome.

I would take it as a compliment.I have a few Friends from Ireland and they use that word alot. For instance one of my female friends said that I looked handsome in what I was wearing. And my husband who is Irish uses that word alot too, when he is telling our daughters that they look nice in what they are wearing,or when he likes their haircut.

I would probably get a complex over my looks because he's probably trying to either make fun of you or he's remarking that your features/looks are masculine whether they really are or not. Any person, that says that is and inconsiderate jerk.
