The dealer told me that the car would pass california emissions despite the fact that the same car in Cali would be purchased with a different "PZEV" emissions standard. I really get the impression that the dealer is being dishonest with me when he says that all mazdas would pass california emissions. If this is the case, then why sell a different model in california? Thanks for your answers!

The point of this is not that I think Ohio enforces california's standards. My part of ohio has NO emissions testing. The point is that I think I may be moving to cali and dont want to get a new car that won't cut it out there.

I think they all will, but to sell the car in California it must meet a higher standard--it's the law.

Yes you will pas Cal standards. Most cars sold after 2000 will. Do you think that everyone who moves to California has to buy a new car? The California standards where for cars sold in the state. If the car is used the state can not keep it out. You will have no problem.

Check the car's sticker. If it says "50 state emissions" or similar, than it will pass CA's smog test. Your dealer is...ummm...misleading you when he says all Mazdas pass CA emissions. Check with the Calif. Air resources board to see what the rules are for bringing a car into CA from out of state.

No it will not pass a green state test. But it is not a Cali. car it should not have too pass Cali. emissions test, only federal tests. You could contact local gov. to find out for sure.

once you've a 3i, then you actually have both.0L, no longer both.3L. i understand there develop right into a particular 3i 2.0L California Emissions configuration that develop into down 6hp from the established one, so i'm uncertain in case you 3i is a California motor vehicle or no longer, or if that's going to bypass.
