I really think in the later seasons it has nothing to do with them actually thinking they are good singers. The REALLY bad ones want to have their 15 minutes, just like William Hung. He sucked so bad that he got signed a record deal and released an album!

I think a big percent just want to get onto television, but there are those that really look serious. I think how could they not know? I think they are either just really good actors or something is terribly wrong with them. Very sad.
