Pinella is a good manager. But, there has to be something fundamentally wrong with a team that has that bad of a history. He may be the person to change things around enough give the Cubs some wins. So, no he didn't commit career suicide.
Don't take this the wrong way, I do like the Cuds. When the Tigers aren't playing I watch the Cubs. But, face it they need something to go their way one of these years. Good luck to the Cubs.

If anyone could help the Cubs, it would be Lou ! Although replacing the current manager in NY (Yankees) would be a better move. For both Lou and the Yankees.

He took the Mariners from last place to get them into the playoffs. He did the same when he was with the Reds. The Marlins did not get him the players he wanted or needed. The only other manager that did this was Billy Martin.
Give him two years and then see how the Cubbies do. Very well I bet.

He did that with the D-Rays. Lou must need some cash? Is he bored?
The bases and dirt will be flying at Wrigley, and it will be fun watching the Brewers beat them like a drum/

No. He did great things for the Mariners while he was there. As long as he gets to do things his way and the front office doesn't interfere too much, I see great things in the Cubs future.

No, I dont think so.
Actually I would not be surprised if he takes The Cubs to a better record then his southside crybaby neighbors.

Cubs deserve the misfortune they've had because of the way the fans treated that guy who caught the foul ball in 2003, not to mention Sammy Sosa, one of the nicest players in baseball.
