We have moved a lot(Army life) and have returned to a place we lived in before we had a three year stint in the U.K.The kids have friends here,my parents live here,it is a safe place to live-usually-we have jobs...BUT it is also 'hicksville'.It is an impoverished (culturally and financially)rural part of Canada. The education system, variety, lifestyle in the U.K spoiled this small town living for us.Everything is a huge drive to get anywhere. The opportunities for our children when they leave school are limited and they will probably have to move away.My daughter's Highschool is less than great. Two bomb threats the second week she was back at school(a copycat act but still!).Kids coming in 'stoned'.The uniforms were great at the U.K schools-no question about what to wear and why.We feel we are on the outside looking but our children are travel-weary.They are at an age when they don't want to keep moving. There is still so much to see and do and we feel 'trapped'.Stay or Go?

Is there a compromise by moving to a larger city in Canada but close enough to still visit your parents - I moved houses/schools a lot as a kid but didn't think much of it at the time ... don't know how old they are but maybe you could ask them, see what they think ... ???

With all the negative things that your have put in your question, i really think maybe you have made up your own minds. Especially were there is nothing there for your children when they leave school, that will be hard for them, bomb threats will that would make me get up and go, you need to weigh up the pros and cons, and see how it all works out, if it was me , and i was able to leave, i would go for sure, good luck

Everything you have said shows you want to move. If you believe that the move will benefit your family in the long term then move. Your kids will make new friends and discover new things. However you must not move too often because it will affect their education.

Good Luck

Seems like you are in a rut.

Get out of there.

Think of what's best for your family in the LONG RUN , you know that is important.

Not what the kids feel at the moment. You are complaining here... that itself shows you are not happy.

Just leave. You know that it what you wanted to hear.
