Well, don't worry about how you look in them. It should be about freedom of movement and all that. Besides, 165 pounds? That's nothing, trust me. I've seen worse. How to wear them...Don't let them ride up. Looking like you're playing with bathing suit bottoms on is not flattering for ANYBODY. But don't pull them down all the way to your knees, either. They should be about a hand's length from your waist, without being bunched up. And underneath...well, you don't really wear anything. If that grosses you out, then wear something that won't give you noticeable underwear lines. Hope that helps!

Well, this may sound unusual, but have you considered taking a martial arts class? I recommend either Aikido, or Tae Kwon Do. I recommend that, because the training will strengthen your muscles, your co-ordination, and your balance. When you are confident, you will not only "walk taller", but you will also command authority.
Please do not go to 5 or 6-inch heels -- they will throw your pelvis and lower back out of alignment, and then you'll just look really silly. Talk w a trusted girlfriend or older female relative, who can help you dress, so that your hairstyle, fashion and shoes work together, so that you convey the confidence that you desire.

I am also short and I wear stilettos almost every day. But I had to build up slowly to that. Start out with high shoes with a wider heel... especially now that its boot season, it is easy to find boots with wide heels and also a little extra height on the front so that you get the height without the intense slope. slowly introduce the skinnier heels and steeper sloped shoes. and its true... practice practice practice. Good luck!

Here's a suggestion from a guy: Have you thought of capitalizing on your shortness instead of trying to be taller?
Make yourself taller, and you'll only be average height, and perhaps not even that. You definitely will not stand out as special.
Tall people who try to be shorter by slumping, ruin their health and make themselves less attractive by their shoulder droop and bent necks, when many people would find their height attractive.
The same goes for short people. You can ruin your health with high heels, damaging your leg muscles irreparably, or you can just capitalize on being that cute short girl. ' you'll be noticed, and you'll seem attractive if you seem happy about the way you are.
(If anybody had told me I would try to answer a question on fashion, I would have said they were crazy!)

I would say don't wear heals that are over 3 inches. With only three inch heals you can get used to walking in them fast, anything over that, your just gonna look goofy cuz no matter how much practice you have walking in them, it's still gonna be akward, and that's not gonna make you feel confident. Plus, 5 or 6 inch heals are stripper shoes. Once you get used to wearing heals, that's all you'll wear, flats will seem weird.

Haha, I'm 4'11" and I keep walking in heels, but I never learned. I still tend to trip and look stupid. The best thing you can do is look into clothes that will elongate your figure, such as shorter skirts. Have good posture. As for the heels...keep practicing!

Hold your arms straight out at your sides for balance and step one foot in front of the other just as if you were taking a sobriety test if the cops pulled you over and suspected you had been drinking!
