If it was my kid, I'd give him one last warning-- from this point on, no drugs or alcohol or he'd be in confined rehab, and follow through, since he will test you. He needs counseling, by the way. I'd insist. You're paying the bills, he should be going by your rules.

I agree that you need to take action. My parents actually moved me from my school to a new one, but I still got into trouble. The best thing to do is to just not let him leave the house. My mom also had a great strategy for skipping school, if we got caught, she went to school with us for a week, if you can get the time off work it is worth it, he will never skip school again. But also remember that a TON of kids get caught drinking at parties. It isn't the end of the world. But if he is doing a lot of drugs, then put him in rehab before he turns 18 and you can't do anything about it anymore. And by rehab I mean a facility that he stays in for at least 30 -60 days.

Work on the starting of the problem. The boys interest in alcohol and drugs. Get him help now especially if this is not a one time thing. Explain the rules while your teen is in your house. Be supportive. Take the time to Listen Listen Listen

Juvenile Hall sounds good....or a boys home. My brother got into meth at 14 and then tried to beat my mom with a lead pipe when he was high one night. My parents dragged him kicking and screaming the whole way but now at 20 he is much better.

Let him spend a day or week in the slammer. Will show him what his future looks like. If that doesn't work, disown him and let him fend for himself. Tough love.
