I am his assistant. Sometimes people will call me and ask my boss's number. I know they want to invite my boss to dinner or retreat so my boss will give our project to them. Is it ok for me to give them my boss's number?

Ask your boss. My boss expects everyone who wants to talk to him should be able to find him, no matter where he is or what time of day it is. He wants his whole staff giving out his cell phone number. My former boss would have shot me for that. Only your boss can make this decision.

NO! Not unless his cell phone is paid for by the company *like a blackberry* NEVER give out personal phone numbers. If its an urgent call, then patch them through to boss's cellphone.

Perhaps you should ask your boss who can have the cell number?

Tell him to his face he is wrong. My boss was always loosing papers and used to say, let's look for this cose WE lost it, so I would help him find it but I would say I didn't touch it. He would get upset cose I said I didn't touch it, so finally he got his own folder carrying thingy and I don't touch any of it, he started loosing papers and now gets angry at himself for loosing it. I saw the look in his face today, lol of embarrassment cose he lost some paper and I think he finally realised... Oh wait, Pearl was right! As I often am when it comes to things in the office. Sometimes it is good to let people see that they are wrong and on their own time but you need to stand your ground and show your point of view, that shows them you have courage and you respect yourself enough to express your opinion and respect them to say how you feel! Love Pearl

If you are his assistant, you should ask HIM that question. He has to be the judge of who can receive his cell phone no. and who can't.

You may end up deciding, but he needs to lay out the criteria.
