Very good question!!

I believe that majority of big charities are an act of ego and not an act of kindness or compassion. Even though there is happiness in giving, our self and our ego are more powerful - they make sure that we give only what we do not want for ourselves and also that the act of giving is done in such a way that maximum publicity benefits come. Only when we become very emotional that we give away without thinking first about self.

Without totally understanding your Q I suggest I've never "Choked" when being charitable.

Organizations who solicit donations have levels of both etchical and unethical behaviors and attitudes.

The problems begin in administering the organization. That takes cash, and usually takes it from the donations at a percentage.

I suggest that if you are inclined to be charitable, do it as it pleases you, and directly benefits others. Selfless acts ahould be their own reward, and on a small scale we can still have a charitable impact.

I do not choke myself but probably some do.. I have learned NOT to give because I would guess that 99% of the charities are crooked and pay themselves considerable amounts in salaries and perk.. i.e. trips here and there. I have SEEN it and was sickened by it.
