Gone with the Wind is truely a classic and a GREAT movie (who can forget the last classic line of Rhett? "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!"), but my favorite is Casablanca. A true romance gone wrong kind of movie. The guy is a good guy, mostly, and even though he loses in the end, he did the right thing. It is just so sad, but such a great story.
Maybe it is because I had a simillar expereince in my past, letting the girl go as Rick did, but still, this is my favorite classic movie.
Of course, there are others, like "42nd Street" which has great musical numbers in addition to a reasonable story line. As I recall, "We're in the Money" came from 42nd Street... I love the old Busby Berkeley musicals...

Imitation of Life (1959)..a must see.
Synopsis:

Annie is desperate for a place to live and offers to work as Lora's maid for food and lodging. Lora's luck begins to change as a result of their meeting and their two stories unfold across the years. However, Annie's problems start when Sarah Jane tries to pass as white.

I love the King and I -- all time favourite.
The story about the strange relationship between King Mongkut of Siam (Thailand) and his children's tutor, Anna. It's exaggerately funny looking at the King's reactions to the western cultures.
Too bad I heard that it was ban in Thailand, because the movie seems to be bad-mouthing their King.
Still, I LOVE IT!!!!!!
