ive been wondering, about the AP courses which r like college courses offered for student in high schools. if we take an AP course and pass the test at the end of the year we'll get credits for college. but if we dont pass the AP test, does it mean that the whole year that we've been taking the course will go to waste?

AP courses allow you to experience a college-level and pace while in high school. If you pass the the test with a 3 or better, you can get college credit at some state schools. For most"highly selective" colleges, you will only get credit for a 4 or 5, 5 or some don't give any credit.

Even if you get a 2 or 1 or no college credit from an AP course, it is not a waste of time. By taking the course, you challenged yourself, something that a lot of students will not do. It also prepares you for college so that you will know how much homework, studying, etc you will need to do in college.

Further, my AP Physics teacher said that he had a student who did not pass the AP Physics C exam. The student went to the Colorado School of Mines and was the only student to earn an "A" in the beginning Physics class (equivalent curriculum to AP Physics) at Mines. This just shows that even if you do not get college credit for an AP class, you will be very well prepared for college.

You will still get high school credit, and you will also have learned some of the material, so when you have to take it in college, the course will be cake. I failed a number of AP tests and found that the college course was not only easier, but covered less material and well. I did horrible in AP Calculus, but got A's in my college calculus because I'd had extra time to learn it.

even if u dont pass the courses they look reallly good on your college transcript. prestigious colleges make sure u r taking the hardest classes offered to you at your school but your grade on the ap test doesnt go on ur transcript

Oh no, they don't 'go to waste.' It obviously still counts for your high school credit and it looks great on a transcript for college.

Trust me. I took MANY AP courses in high school!
