Mexican football is very passionate, perhaps even more than in Europe, but it's national team hasn't really played to it's potential in the World Cup except in the 2 times they hosted the competition in 1970 and 1986. Although they did well in the group stages in 2002 and this year.

Perhaps it has to do more with style than anything else. Mexican football isn't excatly South American, which emphasises skill and individual play, nor does it follow the European game of measured passing, and tactical play.

Being neither here nor there, has proven to be Mexico's biggest hurdle when they face opponents in the World Cup. The team should decide exactly what type of game they want to play, and stick to it. Eventually it becomes the standard from which future Mexican teams will play to.

Winning the World Cup will prove elusive for some years for Mexico. The US has made progress upwards, like emphasising on youth and bringing young foreign children in at an early age. The US also hires top coaches from everywhere to school these youngsters.

Perhaps Mexico with the better footballing pedigree than the US, should take a leaf from it's neighbours books. Not everything the US does is wrong, you know.

Mexico has the defense, but lacks a younger Cuahtemoc and two forwards who can score consistently like Borgetti.
-They played well against Argentina. They have 10 players in Europe and Giovanni can provide that spark they need in four more years time!
