I agree its dumb. Unfortunately its the only tangible result of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform. They are actually required to say that.

`(d)(1) Any broadcast or cablecast communication described in

paragraphs (1) or (2) of subsection (a) shall include, in addition

to the requirements of that paragraph, an audio statement by the

candidate that identifies the candidate and states that the

candidate has approved the communication.

Get's your goat?! <= that's some funny shiz, lol. ANYWAY...yes, I effin' hate their bs with that "approving" crap...it's not like they even produce those bullsh*t advertisements. If I were to run for a political position, I'd make it a point to not point out the faults in others and go ahead and admit that I might not be for everyone, but, if I happen to share the majority of the population of the area/country i'm running for the position for, then I deserve to represent them faithfully and to the best of my humane ability as a representative and not some mud-slingingly slanderer who just seeks money and popularity rather than true freedom and democracy...BUT, I'm not running, which is a bummer just being 18.

hey I hear ya, but the reason that they do that is because it differentiates that politicians campaign ad from something that might be similar coming from say the Democratic National Committee which is likely to be much more about smearing republicans than trying to relay a positive message about the Democrat hopeful. Not picking on Dems, it happens on both sides.

That gets on my nerves too. I also hate that most of the adds slam the opponent for being "partisan," which is inherently partisan. Not to mention, unless you are party-independent, of course you're partisan. Isn't that the point of having a party?

Before politicians had to "approve their messages", they could air vicious negative ads against their opponents, and then claim they had nothing to do with it.
