You still have time to grow, so don't worry about it. Genetics and diet play the largest role in determing your height at full growth, but these aren't factors you can do anything about. Don't worry about why, or how tall you're going to be when your'e finished growing - worry about why it bothers you so much. You will have to live with the results so the only thing you can do is to love yourself as you are.

Genetics. Fact of life. If you are measuring barefoot, you are not that short, most guys lie about their height. I measure 5'10 1/2" but with shoes am about 6'. When I used to work retail and check IDs for alcohol or to write checks, I saw that most guys I could look down on had their height at 5' 11" when they couldn't have been more than 5' 8" or less. When I see pictures of me with the people I work with, I stand out taller than most, so I bet the average height is not 5'10" as is often reported, but more like 5' 7". I've even seen guys over 6' lie about their height, though I don't know why. I saw one guy who said he was 6'4, but he was only a couple inches taller than me!

Dont worry about it you still have time to grow. But if you want a measuring stick to use, you could look at your parents hieght to judge how tall your going to be.
Please remember this is not set in stone because of genes, which can change and make you grow taller than normal.
Race is a factor too but there are those that stand out.
to help growth along, consume food rich in calcium, potassium, protein and iron (milk, cheese, beef, fish, chicken etc.)
This helps growing boys to grow ( be active also, some form of sport will do)
Good luck :)

It would help to know if you're a guy or a gal... 5'6" is not bad for a girl, but a tick short for guys. You'll probably grow more before you're done if you're a guy (girls are usully done).
And, yes, different ethnicities have different average heights. Mayan guys tend to be short.
Then again, just when you thought Chinese were short... Yao!!!

compaired to someone 6'6" you are short. to someone 4'6" you are tall. don't worry about it. I'm 66 and not Mexican and have been 5'6" all my life. It's how big of a person on the inside that counts............PS the Mexican people are typically short

It is genetics....if your parents are short, the odds are that you are going to be short also.
