At the time no one could possibly know that the colonies would become a powerful nation... in fact the "shot heard around the world" predated the Declaration of Independence so there was no such thing as the United States at that point. The real issue is Great Brittan was the world superpower at the time and was pretty much staking claim to places all over the planet. For a colony to not only stand up to the mother country, but to stand up to the world superpower was a major major deal and would shake the rest of the worlds view of Brittan and other colonies (not just american colonies) view of subordinance.

they have a school of rock or something like that school house of rock you know a prepostion is etc. it explains all that and the bill of rights, and congress, and the shot heard 'round the world
