i had painted my nails black on saturday night to match with the outfit i was wearing on sunday. i sort of like how it looks and i'm thinking about always painting my nails black since it can match with almost everything i wear.
anyways, today at school, people started asking me if i was going goth or some crap like that. what does wanting to paint your nails black have to do with being goth minus the fact that it's dark? someone please tell me!

Actually black nails are in fashion this fall. So open up any magazine and show people! Just keep your nails on the short side.

Many many mainstream people think black = goth. Period. Whatever.

Don't use actual black nail polish - that will look goth - the color that appears to be black that everyone started wearing a couple of years ago is actually called Lincoln Park After Dark by OPI. The bottle looks like a very dark eggplant purple, but when the manicurist applies the second coat you get that black look that Lauren wears. Some other good dark polishes are Midnight in Moscow and Black Cherry Chutney by OPI. If you just stick with these it sounds like you will still look preppy/scenish based on your wardrobe.

Typically, people who chose the Gothic style, paint their nails black. More of a stereotype thing I guess, but you don't see Goth folks paint their nails pink. My blonde haired and blue eyed daughter paints hers black just "because" and now my three year old has her toe nails painted black. If you like it do it, and do it because you like it.

You are neither. Black nail polish is the new "in" thing. Jessica Simpson sports it and we all know that she's the furthest person from goth that you can get. Well, besides Paris Hilton anyway! lol
Besides, don't worry about what others think or say.

It doesn't mean you're goth. There was just a spread in 17 mag about how it doesn't have to be goth and they showed some really pretty black nails!!!!
