I am from New Mexico , I have written about how I worry about not exactly speaking " properly" . So I thought it would be neat to see who has the most intresting dialect.
For example what funny or uncommon forms of a word or phrase do you use?
Like I feel silly for saying " gonna wanna" ; Are you gonna wanna have ice cream ?

When people from the south want me to repeat what I am saying during a phone conversation they often say "Do what now?"

When I hear that I say to myself "I didnt tell them to DO anything"

I think Do what now really means "What did you say" or "I didn't understand" or "Please Repeat".

Thats a favorite of mine. Another is "Whatall"as in "Whatall's that cost" when inquiring about the price of a product.

Well my Mom was from Texas so I grew up with a lot of funny Southern words and dialect. I picked up on it and now that I am 37 yrs old I find saying these silly words to my daughter. Now certain words she says sound so Southern.

Britches- for a pants
Polly Pop or Pop- for soda
Cake- for cookie (I think this is from my Dad a New Yorker)

I'm from West Texas. My husband says that I place extra vowels in everything, but he catches me saying things like "I'm gonna unfreeze this." or "It's a bit warmish or coolish" depending on the weather, and my very best was, "Need to put that Lone Star in the ice box and cold it up." Makes us unique, I don't sweat it. My husband, bless his Yankee heart, is a goofy as a stomped 'possum." And doesn't it bug you when people spell "Y'ALL" wrong, and put the apostrophe in the wrong spot, "ya'll?" it's a contraction for You All. he he
