Sometimes dreams show what you are afraid of, and worried about in the real life. Even if those feelings are not that strong, subconscious fears can still appear in your dream, since you are not conscious while you are dreaming after all.
I do have alot of nightmares, and sometimes even when I wake up I am not feeling happy about what I just saw in the dream. It is really awful.
I understand that you felt so horrible when you had the dream about your Little boy. But you should be feeling relieved now, as it was just a dream. And where I come from, it is said that when you dream about someone's death, then that means the person will have a long life. So it is a good luck dream.
So stop worrying, and have plea sent dreams.

Your overwhelming feeling is anxiety. Examine your worries. Resolve them. If you are spiritual, all you can do is pray for protection and be more careful. Unless you have experienced premonitions and foresaw events before, whether awake or asleep, don't believe the horrible thing is going to happen. That is superstition. There is a VERY old proverb. It is in the Bible and in other ancient writings.
"AS A MAN THINKETH, SO SHALL HE BE."
It really advises us to have good and productive thoughts and seek out the good in life. When you preoccupy yourself with imagined woes, you may actually draw bad experiences, or that is all you notice.
Every once in a while, several people report the same bad dream. I can't explain that. And I doubt we can stop something that has started. So, again, we pray.

They usually have something to do with what you are thinking in the evening before.

I have found that if I eat later on in the evening or just before bed I get bad dreams too.

Be careful what you watch- tv or movies are bad for getting nightmares, because all kinds of weird thoughts go through your head especially if its scarey.

Wow. In my relegion I learned that dreams actually happen, not the sense in reality. I've been taught that when you're asleep your soul Leaves your body and it goes to different dimensions, different worlds. A parallel universe if you will. Thats why we experiance such bizarre things when we sleep. And I also learned that it's better not to share you nightmares cause it can actually come true, you can just learn to forget about it.

Usually when you have bad dreams, it is your self conscious saying that you did something wrong and that you need to correct it. You might want to get on a dream interpretation website and find out what your bad dreams mean.

I'd say it depends on your state of mind. If you're feeling low, then you have low dreams, if you're feeling good, then you have good dreams. Or it could be some type of premonition. I personally believe it is your subconsiousness trying to work out a problem that your consious mind can't.

Usually dreams are bad when you've just had a bad experience or when you're worried about something. You should be relaxed and worry-free as possible when you go to bed.

Basically, the desires and needs that you have NOT fullfilled in your normal waking life are pushed into your unconscious.

They re-emerge from time to time in the form of dreams while you are alsleep.

Until you fullfil these desires and needs, they will continue to return in your dreams.
