The 15th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States, which amendment was ratified February 3, 1870, reads as follows:

Amendment XV

Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

Section 2. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

They don't come any more important than that.

This was passed after the Civil War to give slaves the right to vote. It wasn't truly implemented until the voting rights laws of the mid to late 20th century.
