I have a fire bellied toad and feed him crikets, his tank is set up 1/3 dry land and the rest water with a few floaty things for him to climb. The recomended diet is crikets and I put a few on the dry land every few days and atleast half of them drown in the water. Any ideas to stop them from jumping in the water? The dry land is made from sloping gravel built over a clay pot with some moss.

Give the crickets swimming lessons before you put them in!!!!
Sorry...kidding....spread out the time you put them in...if you are putting them all at the same time...wait until he eats one or two before you add more...and usually they do eat them if they are not rotting. I don't know how big your habitat is but an upside down clay pot with openings chipped into it make a good hidding spot for the crickets but make sure the toad can get in too.

Put a piece of wood or a stone in the water so the crickets can climb onto it and get out.I have box turtles and used to have toads, and this is what I do.

Maybe you put in too many crickets at a time.
Also make sure the crickets have some place to snuggle into. If they do, they won't wander around as much, and are less likely to drown.

He'll still eat em.......or you could lower the water height!
