If you want an honest answer you really need to provide more info.

I don't know of one parent that has ever imprisoned their children. We set boundaries and consequences and sometimes those consequences are being grounded but these boundaries and consequences are there to protect you and teach you.

I think you are looking at this from a typical preteen viewpoint and if so you need to realize that your parents make rules in your best interest. If you don't agree with their decisions then you should calmly discuss it with them and let them know how you feel and at least give them the oppurtunity to explain the reasons behind the decisions.

Could you elaborate, please? What sort of imprisonment are you referring to? Grounding? Not letting children stay out all hours of the night? Or it is something more serious, like a couple in my hometown who were found to be keeping their son in a darkened, locked bedroom 24/7?

If it's grounding you're referring to, perhaps the son/daughter did something the parents didn't want them to and they are being disciplined. If it's insisting the son/daughter stay home at night, then perhaps they want him/her to get some rest for school the next day. Or not to end up dead in a ditch. There's a lot of sick weirdos out there! And if it's the last scenario, then the parents are the sick weirdos and should never have been allowed to have kids.

I do not know. I never tried that with my daughter and son.
I hate to hear that parents do that to their own children.
