is it something that just fills your time? do you seriously seek some sort of personal insight from the countless elementary questions? are you hoping to 'enlighten' someone else? is there another reason?

is anyone here REALLY concerned with philosophy as a study/process? or is it safe to assume we are a collective sitting around trying to sound cute and/or smart?

why are you here? reading this question? considering an answer?
what is this yahoo philosophy to you?

(yeah, this isn't a meaningless question. i'm looking for thought behind an answer)

most of the time theres some dumb questions on here but i try to answer some questions that make sense like this one. what i get from philosophy is an understanding of how other people think and sometimes i think "i never thought about it that way". i see it as a learning experience.

I think the philosophy behind this Yahoo!Answers is based on people worldwide whose diverse interests should be shared and we learn together in an Internet global village. I'm happy to post my queries out of my curiosity, I don't mean to be more learned than anyone; I'm also happy when some people've answered my queries, I always feel grateful and know at least we're living in a small world and we can be friends without walls, that is, no boundaries. We needn't be aware of any barrier that might impede our communication, in short, we learn what we know with modest pride.

Yahoo says you can share your knowledge with others .it is the best philosophy known to me. I always like to share my knowledge which i have gained from books as well as personal experience. Some of it may not be fully correct or to the taste of many people yet as you know you cannot please all people in this world. i also gather information from the various answers given by people. For eg It was my firm belief that there was no race called Aryans. Another member had stated that there was such a race of people. Now i will try to gather the proof of this statement
so Yahoo Q & O helps to increase our knowledge bank.

well, i answer all sorts of questions from philosophy & history to stupid hair questions. the whole reason i started was because people were asking questions about Roman history and art questions. i am an art history major and it was good practice for me to be able to regurgitate what i have learned.

sometimes i answer stupid questions that i know younger people are asking. thing is, i am 24 and realize that i didn't know a lot of things either- i still don't know half of anything in the big scheme of things. plus, like any kid, i asked lots of stupid questions at one point in time.

it is a good chance to think about things and practice wording things in an interesting way that makes the most sense to the reader.

sometimes, i get on here just as part of my procrastination in studying for real. it is more fun than studying could ever be. (such as... answering this question....)

nice query...

actually, love answering in this section. it's among the few category that doesn't have an exact answer. and only the best opinion or view could earn the nod of either the asker or the respondents/viewers/readers. here, you can learn wisdom... you can gain knowledge. you can learn other people's views on life, values, etc.... searching for meaning, searching for reasons.

the value of enlightenment doesm't necessarily mean attaining the wisdom nor observing it's philosophy. it's accepting what is truth, embracing validity, examining it's negativity, acknowledging the consequences of acts, humilti, etc...

truth is, i answer queries as is... impart as much as i can. reason within my understanding. and respect the consensus of the majority...

i want to share what i have learned and am still learning.....also the questions that i find, provoke my mind to seek answers, they give me another way to see, to think..they teach me what will work in talking to the public on my concerns and knowledges...this is practice for what is to come in the near future....practice makes perfect.....i have learned so much here in just one week and i thank you all for that....also maybe some will hear what i am trying to say and put themselves into that work, in whatever way they can. every one has their own unique things that they can do...we can be creative here and learn,. also this is a great tool for expressing deep feelings that maynot otherwise be expressed or brought out into the public......this can help you to understand yourself as well as others
