I don't know that Ralph Macchio's riffs were supposed to be a composed piece of music. I interpreted it as his classical guitar studies helping him to face down the "devil's guitarist" (Steve Vai) when Vai could do only rock riffs. It's a shame it is not included on the soundtrack (which features the guitar work of Ry Cooder). The showdown is referred to as "Cutting Heads", I believe, in the film.

Well are you talking about that battle of licks between Steve Vai and Ralph Machio. I don't know who you are reffering to. I know for a fact Ralph Machio can't really play guitar very good. Truth is, I don't know, it has been so long I'd have to hear it. The real question is, what happened to Ralph Machio?
