From the equation XXIII/VII=II move two of the sticks (or in other words, to of the lines) so that the equation is equivilent. The rules: The stick/line you move must be placed back on the other side of the equation. he tells the waitress to keep 2 dollars, and give the 3 people back 3 dollars. The waitress does this. 3 dollars back to the 3 people is like having them pay 9 dollars each for the meal. But the thing is, 3 people times 9 dollars plus the 2 dollars that the waitress keeps is only 29 dollars. So , if the 3 people payed 30 dollars for the meal, where did the extra dollar go?

For the first riddle, move one stick from the XXIII so it becomes XXII/VII on the left side and put the stick on top of the II so it becomes pi, which is about 22/7
The second riddle is easy, they pay 30 dollars, the boss gets 25, the waitress gets 2, and the customers get one each...25+2+1+1+1= 30
The problem is that in the question you are adding the 2 dollars the waitress kept to the 27 dollars the men paid, and that is logically wrong- You add the 2 dollars the waitress kept to the 25 dollars paid to the motel and the 3 dollars the men got back

Second one: Lame puzzle.
There is no missing dollar. Each person paid 9 dollars, 8.33 for the food, .66 for the tip to the waitress. They get a dollar back each. That is all the money.
