hte labor unions that "started" in the early 1900's actually started a few hundred years before as craft guilds. However, the 20th century labor unions were created due to poor working and environmental conditions in most companies at this time. Workers were being forced to work 6 or 7 days a week for as much as 12 hours a day for little money in unsafe and unsanitary conditions. These unions were organized to make conditions better. These unions today have outlived there usefullness and need to die
