Hmm... I guess on the short-term, yes it would help. But it is a short term solution.
I know exercise helps relive stress.... other than that, no clue. If you figure it out, let me know. Gin is getting expensive.

Beautiful, if you are asking this question instead of just doing it this means you already are willing to resist. Ask God: "Lord, Jesus Christ, how am I going to resist! Please help me!" And this constantly, with all your mind and heart, with tears if you have them.
I'm sorry, apparently I got it wrong. If anxiety is your problem (a feeling of fear that something bad will happen), then masturbation can't help much. Try breathing deeply and slowly (deeply because otherwise you won't get the oxygen and slowly because otherwise you'll hyperventilate and feel sick because of too much oxygen) five times or so, than breathe normally, then try it again. If it's morning already (sorry, I lose track of time zone difference) it's better to do that in the open air, go to a park, listen to the little birds singing and so on. (I'm always amazed at how these sounds calm down the mind.)
In the case that it's still night and you can't sleep, it's not useful to go outside; you could perhaps open the window to get fresh air and do the respiration exercise with the window open. And of course, ask for God's help in overcoming this.
You could also try to listen to some soothing music (not from your old collection -- personally, I destroyed and threw way all my heavy metal cassettes and CD's when I found that a good old friend who was too much of a metal fan mysteriously committed suicide, although otherwise perfectly sane). I suppose you most likely don't have psaltic music available, but it's worth a search for "psaltic music" or "psaltic chant" mp3s on the internet. I also have a here a local radio station that broadcasts classical music all the time, so I can tell you that composers such as Mozart, Bach or Vivaldi can do the nervous system a lot of good.
Insights from a good friend: you can do some exercise, such as push-ups, or even go running around the block, if it's safe to do this at night in your neighbourhood.

I do not recommand masturbation to anyone fro sevareal reasons. And in this case, it is surely that it will not give an answer to your problems. You have to understand from where it comes to you the anxiety, when it appears, wich is the mecansim etc. So, go to the essential things. Masturbating is a really superficial solution!
For me, one of the best metods against any unpeaceful etc state of mind is to play basketball or football or to practice any sport. This works also against the sexual addictions, as the masturbation... It consumes your energies, you negative energies and gives also to the mind a very precise target for the momet, so you can escape from the anxiety. But this is also a solution for a while> So, you have to go to the essentials.
If you are chrstian, I can share with you my experience that a visit to a spiritual father can change your life:)

Masturbation is a very effect way of relieving anxiety attacks.
You must use this to your advantage at times of stress.
For example, recently I was at an important job interview in front of three interviewers and so I was feeling very stressed. Although I did not get the job, I found that vigourously pleasuring myself during the questioning made me feel a lot more relaxed.
This technique can also work when public speaking, attending the police station and when women are giving birth.

masturbation certainly will not make things worse so go for it and see if it helps. I woud add some soothing music, a calm, quiet environment and some assurance of not being disturbed while you are trying to relax your way out of the anxiety attacks.
also, give consideration to one of yoru really close friends. Often it will help to try to explain your anxious feeligns to someoen who likes you and is interested enough to want to listen and get to know you better. Often having a close friend who undertands can help calm you down just by being there. Though unless your friend is really close, I might forgo the masturbation when they are with you - hehe.

Anxiety never happens in isolation insofar as it is always generated by a thought that is usually catastrophic in nature followed by a ruminative cycle supported by the original, catastrophic thought.
As far as I can remember masturbation is usually accompanied by a very full and vivid cognitive enactment of what ever turns you on and so should drive the catastrophic structure from your mind at least until after orgasm and resolution.
Seems like a short-term solution to me.

Masturbation can def. help relieve stress and anxiety. However, you may want to try other things to help with anxiety like relaxation techniques or support groups. Something that you enjoy but that is relaxing as well. Hope this helps.

No. That could lead to an addiction to masturbation. Yes, those exist. Just try to calm yourself in a normal way, like counting to 10 or drinking water.
