Depending on the year of the Grand Am, I would say for the most part they are very dependable, I use to race these cars at a local track and they would last longer than any other cars, I know you aren't racing your car but just goes to show that these cars are tough!

Depends on the year.93-96 Grand Ams have problems with the Timing and the transmission.Costs about 2500 to do the timing and1500 for the tran.Hope this helps.

I live in the Poconos and work in the Catskills. My '02 Grand Am went 67,000 trouble free miles. Downshift instead of riding the brakes, though...

yes, very much so. there OEM brakes wear fast though. best thing to do is to get a really good set of pads and rotors.
