For me, it was The Da Vinci Code. The ending was just tosh. LOved Angels and Demons tho, far far superior.

I may have more respect for the woman if she had brought the baby back to the country herself, not got her PA to do it. Also, if she hadn't gone off to the gym 3 hours after the baby arrived at her home. At least Angelina and Brad spend time with their children.

Interesting that so many choose The Da Vinci Code; it's been poorly rated from the moment it came out.
My choice for most over-rated is, and always has been, Huckleberry Finn. For some reason I can't get into that book. I've read more than a book a week for more than 30 years and still have never been able to get more than half way.

The Harry Potter books. I read the first four only and don't intend to read the rest. My 3 favourite characters were Sirius Black, Professor Snape and Dumbledore-look what happened to them. Gosh, I hate it.
And by the way, I hate Angels and Demons, Da Vinci Code is much better. A&D is the nastiest book I've ever read, it's horrible! So much violence and I was scared of that antimatter thing, though it's a nonsense!I don't know what your problem is about Da Vinci Code, it opens some interesting ideas and those who get hooked on the subject will study it further. These people here probably don't read many books.

The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie.
There was quite a hoo-haa over that book too, just like the Da Vinci Code. And just like the Da Vinci Code it was a load of sh.. I mean rubbish.
The publishers obviously realise after spending all the money and paying the author that his work is rubbish and nobody will buy it. So the marketing crowd come up with some cocka-mainy story that gets negative publicity - which only intrigues the reader.
Like idiots we flock to the bookshops and make it a best seller for the author and a waste of time and money for ourselves.
The morel of the story is: If they are kicking up a fuss when the book is released, it's going to be 'effin boring!

I think Dan Brown's intentions for writing a book like the Da Vinci Code were honourable but the product was rubbish. I did read it though but the ending was disastrous. I lost respect for the man on the spot.
Another impossible read for me was Arundhati Roy's The God of Small Things. She won the Booker for it in 1998 I think and for the life of me, I do not know what was so bloody fascinating. I could get past 12 pages. Maybe if I had I'd be able to answer my question... but I seriously won't put myself through it again.

Oh God, the DI VINCI CODE, without a doubt.
I have studied Historical Theology for years.
The Di Vinci Code was almost funny.
It was a story made up from tons of scraps of bits and pieces of facts and theories and speculations that had nothing to do with one another that spanned the time over thousands of years and was shoved into a story book novel.
What was even funnier was all the people that took it seriously.
Now, on the other hand, ANGELS AND DEMONS, his OTHER book, was kind of interesting.

Stephen kings Dark Tower collection.. 7 books to read, slowest story ever and the final book ends so abrutly! Don't ever bother reading them and they had the cheek to compare them to Lord of the Rings! This does'nt go for all Stephen King books though! Agree also about A&D being better than Da Vinci code!

Thankfully, I procrastinated long enough to hear reviews from other readers who've actually read The Da Vinvi Code, so I never had to read it.
For me, I think it's got to be The Best Little Girl In The World by Levenkron. That guy's got a superiority complex he needs to act out.

I'd have to say Moby Dick.
Tried reading it over the summer and it was perhaps the most tedious book I've ever read. I read 3/4 of it ( which probably could be summarised in about a page ). By then I had lost all belief that anything worthwhile could be achieved by reading it and I am currently on a break, which who knows when will end.
