In The Hobbit, does Elvenking believe in the dwarves' errand?

Elrond,yes.

The forest elf king, No. Don't you remember, the dwarves escaped from him because he was holding them in cells?
He thought they were lying to him.

Next time, read the book, as you were supposed to do.

I thought that Elrond was keeping the dwarves captive to work, and they escaped cause they felt betrayed.
