What are your thoughts on the brawl between Miami-FIU football game? Did the players involved in it get what they deserved? Do you think that stuff like that is not tolerated in all levels of sports (prep, collegiate, professional, etc.)? What do you think?

That's not football. If I was in a position of authority at one of those Universities I'd have a panel review the tapes. People like the guy stomping and the guy using his helmet for a club would be expelled and would be permanently off the team, and would lose their scholarship.

I was there on Saturday. I am an alum of FIU, a fine institution. We have an upstart football program and have had a team 5 years. Saturday was supposed to be the great day when our new program arrived and played our in city titan UM. A great day for our program. However, UM had to be UM and try to intimdate and bully the weaker squad. On this night however that squad would not have it. UM was frustrated that the game was so tight (14-0) late into the third quarter. When they scored they did their normal touchdown clownery and after the extra point they started pushing, shoving and posturing, leading to an unsportman like conduct penalty. This escalated into the riot that everyone saw. The unfortunate thing is that our Panthers couldn't control themselves and lowered themselves to UM's standards. All this was, was a struggling squad frustrated that the little brother had come into their house and was giving them all they could handle. So they handled it the only way they knew how, by trying to bully. They seem to forget that we come from the same town and are not in awe of their team or that run down house with all the mystic. When they smacked they weren't prepared to be smacked back!

It was a despicable display. I refer everyone to Bill Curry's excellent column on ESPN.com. Zero tolerance for thuggish behavior!

Ghetto street thugs who happen to just be barely smart enough to catch a ball. Steroids anyone?
