I have an older Athlon, and a Duron machine, that both have three slots for PC100 or PC133 SDRAM memory. I did what you are asking, and everything works just fine..

Last week, a customer said he was tossing out his MSI board computer, after he had put in the best ThermalTake Volcano 6 fans, two case fans, and made other changes, because he said the system was unstable. It had two sticks of 256MB of DDR memory. I added a 512 Mb DDR stick, to make it run as 1Gb of RAM.

Works fine! But, he kept the CDrom drive, and hard drive, and I put in other ones, and see no trouble!

So, probably, is YES! And, mine all run 50X faster, now, on FREE http://pclinuxos.com
