Basically there are 3 ways to connect the laptop to the Internet. You must find out what hardware you have in the laptop to select the method you must use.

If you have an internal modem (hole that takes phone wire), you can signup with an Internet Service Provider and use the phone line to access the Internet.

If your laptop has a wireless network interface you can access the internet from a wireless acess point.

If the laptop has a wired network interface, you can plug it in to a hub / router connected to either DSL or Cable modem.

2 ways find ur network (LAN) port on the and connect a normal ethernet cable from a modem or hub *assuming you've got broadband or dsl. if its got built in wireless and you've got a wireless hub simple search for a a connection using network connections in windows..or if it hasn't got neither a lan port, or a wireless connection you can go buy a network card or a wireless adapter etc and you'll be connected in no time..if this isn't viable find your modem port attach a normal modem cable 2 it and try connecting the old way via aol (you'll need an aol setup cd or any ISP setup cd) U really need to tell us what else you have got before we can tell you how to get online..jus a laptop isn't easy enough..what internet connection you hv close by etc..blah blah blah im willing to help via email

first, you need to check if your laptop has LAN card, if not, buy a new one, or subscribe to ISP's near you, they will provide you the hardwares. There are several options for the internet connection:
1. Dial up
2. through ISP's
3. Wireless connections...
