Little known secret... they pay for it! Well, actually, what happens is someone nominates them - usually their agent or publicist. They have to be approved by a board but really it comes down to someone paying the $10,000 to give it to them. You'll notice, stars tend to get them right before a new movie or album comes out...convenient, isn't it?

The star stays forever. There's a homeless man with no legs who spends his days polishing the stars as no one else tends to them. The stars are always presented in front of Mann's Chinese Theater but then are moved to an available spot. Some are as far as 5 blocks from Mann's.

First, become a star. Then, there's a lot of paperwork to get into the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. Besides that, pay the small amount of $10,000 and be remembered.

By the way, it's not as important as it sounds. Some very talented celebrities don't have one: like Clint Eastwood. (yet)
