Sometimes you can take the air filter and blow it out with compressed air instead of replacing it.
Oil changes, while generally recommended every 3 months/3000 miles can be delayed if you do a lot of highway driving.
Many manufacturers say 7500 miles if your average trip is over 20 miles. Stop & go driving and short trips usually require more frequent oil changes.
Depending on the vehicle, I might carry a fuel filter instead of replacing it at the specified mileage.
If it starts to plug, change it on the spot.

i own a repair shop,and some of it you can do your self like rotating the tires and oil changes that will help a lot ,but there are many things to do to keep one up good,so if money is tight ,just keep an eye on things and make sure nothing starts going bad on it until you get a chance to have it maintained real good,,you can get buy on a lot of things,just don't skip out to long,good luck i hope this help,s.

always keep oil level right and anti freeze. brake fluid. and good or at least decent tires and the rest will take care of itself.
