Hello Gyaan:

TRANSPORTATION
Avoid all taxis
Take subways ($2 per trip)
Don't fly (it's faster by ground)
Don't take Amtrak or any rail (it’s too expensive & not much faster)
Peter Pan Bus runs 1 - 2 / hour ($40 RT & up if bought online)
Fung Wah Chinatown Bus--ONLY take this one ($15 one-way)

LODGING
You cannot stay in NYC on a budget unless…
You want to stay in a youth hostel ($35 per night)
Or stay in a vacationer's vacant apartment ($50 & up per night)

Otherwise check out your 3-4 star hotel franchises around Newark, NJ. You can't go wrong with these hotels, they may not have marble baths, but there is a reason why there are 1,000s of them across the country. Newark, NJ is a shooty area to hang in, but very accessible to NYC with connections to the PATH train ($1), NJ Transit Rail ($2.50) and NJ Transit Bus ($2.50). And to give you an example of hotel savings...The Howard Johnson hotel in NYC is $259...in Brooklyn, NY $149...and in Newark, NJ $69. Huge difference and Newark is only 10.3 miles from midtown NYC.

Check these hotels:
Best Western
Howard Johnson
Ramada
Days Inn
Super 8 Motel

Boston has an abundant record and a varied neighbourhood; it's a legacy of arts, tradition, and education; Boston has anything for everyone so find what Boston may offer you with hotelbye . The three-mile Freedom Trail brings you past - and into - 16 of the city's principal historical monuments and sites. It's simple to follow along with, by the type of red stones in the pavement and by footprints at street crossings. The trail will take you to Old Granary Burying Ground where Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, and John Hancock are buried; will take you to King's Chapel Burying Ground, the Boston's oldest cemetery; Old South Meeting House where in actuality the calling speeches of patriots spawned the Boston Tea Party and the Old State House, Boston's oldest community making and your website of the Boston Massacre.

You can go on Greyhound or Peter Pan for about $40-70 round trip per person. . .I think if you take the Amtrak it's about $80 round trip per person, but it's much faster. All three of these leave from South Station in Boston. . . . There is also a Chinatown bus service, which takes you from Chinatown Boston to Chinatown NYC, and they are MUCH cheaper, usually about $15 each way. . . .Not sure about cheap places to stay in NYC, I don't think many exsist! Try www.travelocity.com or www.expedia.com to get some deals.

The services that are most often are Greyhound and several "Chinatown" buses from Boston to NY....The majority of chinatown buses would cost you $15 each way. It would take you 4 hrs to go from Boston to NY..

Now for the rates for the hotels
If u wanna stay in New york the cheapest would be at the Econolodge at newark international airport hotel for $64 per night.....

If you wanna stay in Boston, MA the cheapest hotel would be Motel 6 Boston- Danvers it would cost you $59....

My kids take the "Fun-Wa" Chinatown bus out of South Station in Boston that brings you to Chinatown, NYC for $15 one way.

However, I've found on Greyhound.com sometimes they have deals for $20 from Boston to NYC.

As for a place to stay, check out http://www.iBtraveling.com and compare their travel sites for prices of a good (3 star) hotel in mid-town NYC. (Times Square area). After you've checked out the different prices, click on Price Line and put in a bid for a 3 star hotel starting at about $120 and you just may get one. Good Luck!

Hi,
The LimoLiner is a nice bus service. Its about the same price as the train. Its really nice, you get Internet access, beverages, food and service the whole way. Comfy leather seats. www.limoliner.com. Also JetBlue flys there almost hourly and sometimes you can get a ticket for $50.00 one way however the taxi into NYC costs $50.00 also.

Most folks take the train, Amtrak. I guess it costs about $75.

There are no cheap places to stay in New York. If you want cheap, go to a different city. New York is the most expensive city in the country.
