Many times, we just happen to do what is needed in the situation, without any 'residual thoughts' about the quality of the deed , other than that it was just needed to be done. All such deeds are selfless deeds. Like our left hand reaching upto help an itch due to mosquito bite on right hand or so. When we start experiencing things and persons around as a part of ourselves, action flows out , when needed, naturally ! No ethics or morals are needed anymore, and no residues left in us to inflate the ego !

With 442 right answers in about 6 months period , Kimberly, you have been a source of strength for many yahoo friends. Compassion comes to you naturally.
If not by your measurements, by our standards we try to be compassionate in our own way. But we have not kept track of those moments except feeling happy about that event.

I don't neccessarily go out of my way to help people, but if the situation calls for it, I will rise to it. It's all about doing what's right. If I find someone's wallet, I'm going to find the owner, not steal the cash. If someone's hands are full, I'll open the door for them. You know, the basics.

"The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to your child, a good example; to a father, deference; to your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; to yourself, respect; to all men, charity. "
I try my best to do what I can for others, in bigger things (volunteering in a homeless shelter and so forth) and in small things (something as simple as holding open a door or giving up your seat in a crowded area...)
But I cannot say my deeds are selfless because when I do them it makes me feel "good"....yes, I am doing them to help other people but I'm not so sure I would do it if it made me feel bad....who knows, I might though.

People of this generation lack the courage of conviction. Hence abstain from taking part in any such activity.

jesus got off the road to help the samaitan, is this not a message to us.....he does say be like me........we are to travel this road, take this journey to christ....we are not to stray from the road......so what does this mean hwen jesus got off the road to help the samaritan.....the others would not get off the road, they did not understand why he would do this....he was walking down the road and saw one that was off the road, so what does he do, does he stay on the road like a good person should and is told by all to do or does he get off the road......to get off the road you would appear to be doing what is wronge, because you are going to a place that is considered sinfull. you have overcome sin so how is it that you will return to sin, why.....jesus said that he will come in like manner as he went.....the past that he came out of, is that which he has experience in. that past is his greatest stregth in christ....so if he knows the way of the samaritan, and can be accepted among, as paul said, i become what they, that i may save them...jesus ate in the feild with the disciples and the pharasees said behold the king of the jews is sinning. how come he is out there partaking of the grain in the feild with them...jesus reply was that he was here for the lost, if i am not like them, how can i get to them...if i can not get to them, how can i save them,..........jesus took sin upon himself to save you, and he ask that we do the same, even at the cost of your own life..........think abought that

Try to be, but I have a low tolerance for panhandlers. Most panhandlers just want a handout and have no real interest in helping themselves.

there is no such 'living' thing as selflessness.... its just an unattainable moral concept we try to gauge our actions against.
