I believe that a good combination of the two is important. Everyone can imagine, but not everyone is super intelligent. Some intelligent people aren't creative/imaginative. When you find a person who is both intelligent and imaginative, then that is very special.
For a person's everyday life, we really need a little bit of both. I think that, in the big picture, knowledge is more important than imagination.

Exactly. Imagination is the mother of all invensions and knowledge. Without imagination, nothing could be achieved in this world. This is a powerful tool which differentiate human from other living beings.
Only laughter and imagination are things that cannot be tried by other living beings. We are blessed ones with these two special gifts.

Imagination is knowledge, how can you imagine without knowledge. You are just weaving your knowledge to create another story you call imagination. Imagination is the make believe from knowledge. Without knowledge you cannot imagine.

I believe that people should not live in extremes.
There isn't one more important than the other, because they co-exist, even if they differ.
Knowledge is the bedrock of imagination. It gives strength to it.
On the other hand, imagination, can be the initiator of knowledge. It also allows a connection with a person's inner self.
These two, go well together, because they give you a complete picture. You get to learn about the world and at the same time, you also learn to explore your realm.

I value knowledge more than imagination. I don't believe that imagination will take you further than knowledge will.

Imagination leads to abstract thought. In an attempt to prove or disprove abstract thought, knowledge is gained. An intelligent imagination leads to knowledge.
Science fiction writers imagined a ray gun which became a laser in real life. The laser is used for medical operations and has yet to become an effective weapon in its self all though it is used in ordinance guidance systems.
People imagined a horseless carriage, electronic communications, flying, going to the moon, and space travel long before they had the capability to develop these things. Socratese imagined flying.
Einstein always put abstract thought ahead of scientific study.
Imagination is the soil that all knowledge grows from

Yes, in the sense of practical ideas worth applying to your work and everyday life. The imagination doesn't imply day-dream, romantic and pointless one, rather it's mildly serious as supported by your in-depth knowledge in your field of study or general knowledge that leads to feasible applications to your problem.
