I've tried turning off cookies.. it makes browsing a pain in the butt.
What you can do is delete your cookies after you're done.
In Internet explorer just click the "tools" folder and select "Internet Options".. from there click "Delete cookies"
Mozilla firefox can be configured to delete cookies and cache automatcily upon exiting.

It's in your internet options panel when you right click on the explorer option. You can restrict cookies, but it will stop you from entering some sights. Just delete them using the options presented on the mains creen when you open op the options panel. If you disable cookies, there will be many websites that you will no longer be able to get into.

You really don't want to turn all cookies off. They remember a lot of good things too..... you can 'restrict cookies' and it will be in ITools/nternet Options/Temporary Internet Files/Settings

Tools/Internet Options/PRIVACY
There are several types of cookies, and you can choose whether to allow some, none, or all of them to be saved on your computer. If you do not allow cookies at all, you may not be able to view some Web sites or take advantage of customization features (such as local news and weather, or stock quotes).
