A pop-up blocker is used to stop advertising webpages from popping up. But that does not necessarily remove spyware. You should have an anti-spyware solution on your computer. I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.

SPAM is a different subject. This is unsolicited email. You should use a SPAM Blocker. If you are using Yahoo email, then check the SPAMS and use the SPAM button. If you are using Outlook Express or Outlook, then look for a program like SPAM SUBTRACT.

You should get a separate email address for registering products and such. I would get a Free YAHOO email address for this. With Yahoo, you can use the SPAM button.

There are a number of ways spammers can target you. Here are some of the more common ways. You downloaded software or signed up for a service which requires you to register with your e-mail address. Afterwards, your e-mail address is given or sold to a third party who then spams you. Another scenario, your friend has your e-mail address in his address book. Unfortunately, his computer is infected with spyware, Trojan horses or worms which steal all the information from his address book. The spammers then targets everyone mentioned in his address book. There are a lot of malicious people out there in the cyberworld.

Popup blockers won't help you filter out spam; however, almost all e-mail services provide some form of spam blocking. If you can share what e-mail service you use, I can steer you in the right direction where you can find one.

Spam email or spam pop-ups? If its pop-ups you may have malware on your computer. Reboot into Safe Mode and run a full malware scan. If its email, you address has probably been passed around to various spam companies. All you can do is get a junk mail filter or set up a new account.

Some of the reason could be all those fun little games that give you free stuff. If those get your email, your in for a heck of a lotta spam. Sometimes it is sent to random emails. In any case, There are email websites and programs (Outlook or gmail, anyone?) that block these pesky emails. Sometimes these spam things should go to your bulk. If they dont, check your email settings. That should help.

Pop-up blockers block pop-up's, not spam. If you use your e-mail address when you shop online, then online stores can sell your e-mail address to spammers.

because your address gets sold and resold and traded 100's of times. I have over 200 spams in my bulk folder every morning on Yahoo, and I get another 300 during the course of the day.
