I hate my smoke detector in the kitchen. Everytime I have to use the oven above 400 degrees, it goes off. Forget about using my wok ! Anyone know a brand that will protect me from the bad smoke but won't go off when cooking?

first alert fire alarm with a 10 year sealed batery works pretty good. I've always had problems with smoke alarms going off while cooking but when we got these they don't. Also you don't have to change the battery out ever 6 months. You got 10 years before having to change them. Well good luck and don't know where you are from but you can get them from walmart. Check walmart online if you don't have a walmart in your area. P.S. don't take the alarms out of the kitchen most house fires start in the kitchen. I've never seen a house without alarms in the kitchen.

There isn't one. A smoke detector is designed to detect smoke. I would look into one of the following...

- Learn to cook without burning your eggs.

- Relocate the smoke detector so its not directly over your stove top - but so its still in the vicinity of your kitchen.

- Get and exhaust fan or use your exhaust fan when cooking.

Most alarms are set by a certain calibration standard. There are none that aren't "sensitive" sadly. If the alarm is older try cleaning it best you can or make sure the battery is new...if thats not the problem..then the only thing you can do is move it to a better location(farther away and or 8-14 inches from ceiling on a wall)

A smoke alarm should be centrally located in the floor that it is on. Usually , this is not directly in the kitchen. If you call your local firehouse, explain your problem, I'm sure they will give you better advice than any of us can. They would rather help you now, than to come to a fire at your house. P.S. maybe you should brush up on your cooking skills and check to see if you have any spills on your oven floor.

move the smoke detector out of the kitchen. Try to keep the inside of your oven fairly clean or it won't matter where you put it.

You have your smoke detector too close to the kitchen. Move it to the hall and it will take care of your problem.

You need a good ventilation fan that goes to the outside. You could move it to right outside your kitchen. If you have a real fire every alarm in your house will go off.

It sounds like you're doing the burning. You should perhaps keep an eye on your cooking so that you don't burn the food that is setting off your smoke alarm. Or eat out.

You need to learn to cook eggs better or you need better ventilation. Probably the second case. Tampering with a detector is a no-no.
