I am not sure what it is. Last week he had a fever and cough, but now he seems to be feeling fine, back to his usually rough-housing self. There appears to be somesort of breakout around his nose and mouth and chin. He says it doesn't hurt, but I think I am going to call the Dr. in the am, should I be alarmed?

The definition of acne follows. It is an inflammatory disease of the sebaceous glands, characterized by raised, inflamed skin irritations, pimples and other blemishes.

A small child could possibly incur symptoms for a skin irritation that is similar to the disease found in most adults. Acne is more common in more young adults after puberty occurs. Puberty usually appears in children ranging in ages ten to sixteen. The age range varies for each child.

it is always good to take them to Dr. if something like a rash develops after an illness. He could be having an allergic reaction to the meds he was on or his body could be trying to isolate and eliminate infection Thu his pours.

It could just be a reaction to what ever is in his system. If it doesn't go away soon, call the doctor and he can probably prescribe something from an anti-biotic to a facial cream.

Check around the rest of him. Make sure he doesn't have the "spots" anywhere else. Check with the doctor, but keep an eye on him tonight. Hope he feels better!

Well, it sounds like a food allergy or he had contact with someone who has no business being around children (sounds almost like an std). I'm glad that you are seeing a doctor. Please wait for his/her assessment before jumping to conclusions. May have gotten bitten by a spider, poison oak or poison ivy or some other plant...who knows???
