Their greatest popularity was around 1968-1969. During the whole scandel, Jim continued to gain respect and popularity. The music still stands the test of time and is being discovered by many people as time goes on. It's awesome music even if it wasn't popular in this day and age.

They were popular in the '60's, especially around '66. They recently released a 40 year anniversary album

Mainly it was in early 70's that they were considered the Best of the Best..
but they were in the late 60's at their best.

back then it took a long time to get "COOL" and be a icon, not like today with all the 1 hit wonders who was The bomb! yesterday is like old school today.

I'd say the very early 70's they were at their most popular. But they still get air played and people still buy their music even now :)
